I want to thank everyone for the great advice about using your local camera store. I had a preorder (first week) with B&H with zero insight of where I was on the list. I read the suggestions to use your local store. I found an authorized Nikon dealer within 20 miles of my town. I put my name on their list 3 weeks ago and picked up my D800 this evening. Great advice. Thanks again.

Happy to hear you got a D800. That's what I had to do also to get my D800E and I had one on pre-order from amazon within a couple of hours of them taking orders on Feb. 6th..... Taxes may just be worth it just to know you'll have one within a couple weeks....
