"Thank You Nikonians.org"

Every once in a while I think it's appropriate to acknowledge the tremendous value Nikonians brings to our community of Nikon users.

With the exciting announcements of the D4 and D800 comes ten thousand questions that we are all dying to get answers to.

And in the best fashion of what a community really means, we sift through the details, do our research and then pose a question or do our very best to answer one.

We bring advice from many varied and different fields of expertise as well as years behind a viewfinder, and in the end, we eventually get very close to the truth.

So a very big thank you to the creators or this wonderful website, the folks who moderate and maintain it, and most of all, to the community of photographers who make all this work.

I think the major "plus" of Nikonians is the generally high degree of congeniality -- little if any of the "better than thou" attitude that appears on some other sites, especially attempts to belittle so-called newbies. There is a a high degree of sincere sharing that recognizes that helping someone else learn or improve does not detract from anyone else. Of course, if you have a technical quation you can call Nikon and get a good answer. But asking amnog your fellow Nikonians often elicits a discussion that goes further than just the answer. These people frequently have tangential ideas and other ways of looking at things, that are both refreshing and that offer alternatives to the "book answer."

When I get something new this is usually where I start to learn. Admittedly there are opinions as well -- but they are usually interesting and flexible. I join in saying "Thanks!"
