Handheld with nikon 16-35mm f4 VR. I had just picked up the camera then off to the show, just shot jpeg as my imac currently to outdated to support D800 raw in Aperture. Well Attempting to show pics but not smart enough to post the smugmug link!

Fixed!

Thank you , I shot these about as "quick and dirty" as you can get , P mode with an in camera adjustment to the WB ( do not remember what temp ) PP consisted of sharpen, back off of exposure a little, black point, and red curve in Aperture

I was amazed at the really slow shutter speed and handheld you took these pictures at. I guess the VR was a great help. I can see the man's hand moving is one shot. It makes me feel a lot better about the camera all around and not having to use a tripod all the time. There was another post that used the Nikon 28-300mm lens that took some great pictures too, so that show you don't have to have the best lens to get some great pictures with this camera. Not that the 28-300mm is that bad of a lens, but at least you can use some of the cheaper lenses.

Like to see one of your RAW pictures when you take one, and maybe at f8 to see how they look.

Have Fun,
Bill

Under the "i" infor tab, just click on it on the right side of the page. It slides out when the pointer is on that side on the edge of the page. Also you can view in different sizes in the same place.

Hi Jay:

Keeping in period with the auto show: “Great balls of fire!” Not keeping in period: “It ain’t fair!” Looking at your photos, it tempted me to run out and get one of them 800’s;” I have the 16-35. Well, not really. The shops were closed, but it crossed my mind!

Congrats on your new D800. Great photos!!!

Best regards,

Hektor

holy #### ... I was looking at your images again ... you must have the best handheld technique on the planet earth. Look at the blur of the people walking in the bg. The only way I could be that steady without a tripod/monopod would be to use a beanbag or something.
