"Can't use Camera Control Pro 2 with my Nikon D800"

Iowa City, US

I have downloaded Camera Control Pro 2 - version 2.13.0 on an intel 27" iMac in my studio using OS 10.8 - Mt. Lion.

Some Data:

1. CCP2 on the iMac works great with my 2 Nikon D300 cameras.

2. My Nikon D800 is recognized with Image Capture using the new USB cable.

3. Camera Control Pro 2 says "no camera found" when I plug in the D800.

Q. Has anyone used CC Pro 2 with a Nikon D800 on a Mac with OS 10.8 ?

Dick

OK -- so far the answer must be NO. Not a single reply to my post.

Nikon has finally updated the Camera Control software to work with Mac OS 10.8 (Mt. Lion) - that took about a year.

But, I cannot find any indication that the CC P 2 software works with the Nikon D800. I've had my D800 camera since May of last year ----- and I still I cannot use it in the studio with Camera Control Pro 2 and my studio Mac. How can that be ??????

Nikon has the slowest software team in the world ..... it has always been bad for we Mac users, but now it has gone beyond being ridiculous.

No wonder I have so many friends and customers who use Canon cameras .....

One of my reasons to get the D800 was to use a wider normal lens for big group shots in the studio. I'm still backed up to the wall and shooting with my FX D300 cameras.

I am not a happy camper right now.

Thanks. I'll look for it. 2.13.0 also works with OS 10.8

Will it work with a D800 ?

Today I downloaded and installed the 2.14.0 version (released 3-7-13 6 days ago) ..

My D800 is STILL NOT recognized by the software.

Nikon says "Support for the D5200 has been added.." ---- nothing about the D800.

It DOES support Mac OS 10.8.2 (after a few years of work by the great Nikon software team .... ) 10.8 - Mt. Lion was announced in Feb. of 2012 - over 1 year ago ...

Bottom line - my D800 is approaching 1 year in my studio and I have yet to shoot a single image when tethered to my studio Mac using Camera Control; Pro 2.

If you are considering a Nikon purchase - and you,, like about 90% of my photography friends and colleagues, are a Mac user ....you might want to take note of this ....

Dick (just a little frustrated....)

It's odd that you haven't been able to get this to work. As I'm not a Mac user, I can't offer any direct advice myself.

I do recall a few discussions in this Forum about using CCP2 on a Mac - here is a thread where at least one member was successful.

Ok

After interacting with Nikon support I got my iMac to recognize my D800 with the new Camera Control Pro 2.14.0

The secret is to restart the computer after the upgrade and then start the CC P2 program -- then connect the D800. I had to wait for 4 minutes .... but then the program found my D800 ----

So - I can shoot in the studio for the first time today with the camera that I bought a year ago....

Wow.

The advances, perceived or otherwise of the two platforms is that somehow and sometimes with USB, a reboot is in order.

Happens to all of us.

Glad Nikon got you through the portal.

Thanks for stating the issue, good to know.

The key part was not the reboot - it was waiting for several minutes for the program to recognize the D800 camera. Being a type A person, after 60 seconds I concluded. that the 2.14.0 program didn't work. Just give it time .....
