Hi everybody,

The D800 manual says that the Format option only deletes the index of the card and doesn't do a low level format. So you know if there is any option (maybe an "hidden" option) that can do a low level format of the CF/SD cards?

I am unaware of any way to do a low level format in camera. Periodically, I will do a disk check and low level format on the PC with a card reader. I then reformat when putting the card into the camera.

The cameras only do a quick format.

As Brian points out, to get a low-level format you need a card reader attached to your computer.

Once you have done the formatting via the computer, you will still want to do a quick format in the camera before using the card.
