"Giottos Screen Protector"

US

I searched here and saw conflicting reports. I would like to know if there is currently a Giottos screen protector correctly sized to fit the D800 screen. I have never used one, but thinking of trying it.

I use the entire screen for composing landscapes in live view, and do not want something that blocks any of the LCD image.

Thanks in advance,
Don

Giottos does not make a screen protector that fits the D800 properly. The GGS ones fit fine.

The Giottos SP8304L may do the trick.

For those who have not used a Giottos you might be surprised how much better a job they do than the GGS.

I tried one of these and sent it back. The black border is too wide and cuts off part of the screen. The GGS protectors have a much narrower border.

My experience is that the Giottos are far more delicate than the GGS. Every Giottos screen that I have had (3 or4) have cracked, chipped or scratched. I've had a similar number of GGS screens and none has had any damage. Perhaps it is just bad luck, but I see a trend.

In addition, the SP8304L, which I bought with my D800, covers part of the screen with the wide border (as noted by Dave) and is not as good of a fit. It is really a Canon sized cover.

I will say that the Giottos screens are slightly for viewing than the GGS.

I have broken several Giottos screen protectors by accidentially kicking them (while the camera was on the floor) or bumping the back of the camera into a very hard object.

For me the extra clarity of the Giottos make them worthwhile

I have switched to the GGS for several reasons.
They are thinner, cheaper, and easier to replace.
The D800 model does fit better, but still cuts off a small portion of top/bottom.

The Giottos SP8304L is for the D3 which has a 3" LCD - the D800's LCD is 3.2".
