My D800 just started overexposing by 2 stops.

Check compensation. Tried various modes.The meter in Manual is about 2 stops off according to the histogram. What could be wrong?

It's been perfect until yesterday.

The first thing to check is to see if exposure bracketing got turned on (or left on) by mistake.

As above bracketing would be my first guess.

Did you switch to spot metering, which depending on what is in the spot can be very under/over.

EV compensation?

Do a full reset?

Checked and recheck bracketing. Forgot about full reset. How does that work again and what gets reset?

Found it. Sticky aperture on 24-70. Yikes! Blew some air in by the lever, worked the lever, it still doesn't bounce back like it should. Do I dare to put a small amount of machine oil in the slot?

I would send the lens in for repair just in case it isn't something bigger wrong with it.... I wouldn't want to put any oil on it as it could damage coatings and could get into the mirror box.... Just my input.
