Can anybody tell me how to get a panoramic view with D800 and a wide angle/normal lens ?

Here is how you get a basic 3 shot Panorama. To get the Panorama View you rotate your head just like you rotate the camera:) There is no viewfinder setting. Same applies for wider Panos with more shots.

I do it like this because it causes me to think each step through.

Level Tripod

Level Camera

Take horizontal (Landscape) shot

Aperture Priority Mode

Get Starting Aperture & Shutter Speed (Write down)

WB & ISO to Manual (Daylight / ISO 100 usually)

Flip Camera to Vertical ( L-Bracket )

Check Level

Switch to Manual Mode

Set Aperture & Shutter speed same from above..

Change to Manual Focus

Shoot Center of Composition

Rotate to shoot 1/3 left and 1/3 right

( Stitch the Pano in Photoshop or Elements. )
