Go to Jeffrey\'s EXIF viewer and upload an unedited jpeg through the web page.

I use Opanda Exif Viewer. It works great on a small JPEG but not if you strip the EXIF out in post processing. It does not work on NEF files and it is for Windows only. Hopefully someone will suggest an Apple product.

Bob, not in front of my iMac right now but, open a JPEG of your last photo in Preview. Then go to "Tools" and "Get Info". There will be tabs across the top in the window that opens. One of them has the shutter actuation count of the photo.
If this isn't exactly right, my apologies but if you look around in those areas, you should find what you're looking for.
Best regards,
Tom

Tom is right but open a NEF in preveiw / tools / there should be a box that says Nikon click on that and it will tell what acuation that NEF is.

Regards

Neil

Bob, Your profile indicates you have CS5. Here's what you do:
Select image in Adobe Bridge,
Go to File, then File Info,
In the window that pops up, select the “Advanced” tab,
Select “Schema”, drop down arrow,
View “aux:ImageNumber:”

I also use preview to know the shutter count. On the mac it's the easiest solution.

Cheers,
Bernard
