Well it may be folly, but with the hassles listed in the other threads dealing with the QC issues on the D800 I'm still sitting on the sidelines (and hoping for a little Xmas bonus deal for my patience!)

But I'm wondering if anyone has received a unit with a serial #3055000+ ? And if so, does it have any issues (LF, 10 pin or otherwise)? And where did it come from?

I know chasing serial numbers is perhaps like the holy grail, but since I have nothing forcing me to buy it now, it's at least something to do!

My D800 is 30517XX and is my second unit. I purchased it from Crutchfield back in early October and I have no issues with mine at all. My first was 3027440 that I purchased from Crutchfield in Mid September and it had the left autofocus issue. Though I must admit, I never actually experienced it in real life and didn't know I had a "problem" until I read about it and how to test for it here.

Thanks Ray, I appreciate the insight. I'm hearing rumors about a price break December 14/15. I'll have to follow up with Crutchfield. Did you have any contact ie: serial numbers before getting the second unit?
