"Question for D800 Owners-Long Exposures"

Shallowater, US

I currently have a d700 but am looking to step up to a d800. My question concerns long exposures at night and noise. I particularly like photographing storms and lightening. At night with lightening, my exposures can be in the one minute range. Can anyone tell me about the noise consequences of these long exposures with the d800?

I chase lightning storms during Monsoon season in the desert for years. I have the D800 since May and I never had any issue with noise while capturing at night using exposures all the way to 1 minute via BULB mode.

I have many images of lightning here in the forums... or you can browse my gallery at: http://www.devekmaga.com/Nature/Lightning-Storms/18829301_R6Np6X

Enjoy.

Yes I agree. I used to do some night shots with my D700 and I would say my D800 is about the same level of noise under similar circumstances. I have done quite a few 1 minute exposures at night trying to get meteorites etc
