How many Aussies have the new Nikon kit and would be interested in learning how to get the most out of this fabulous camera through an online Nikonians webinar.

I have recently been in contact with Academy Director, Mike Hagen and a webinar is possible depending on interest level. It might need to be a slightly different format to the whole day programs in the US. This is to accommodate the issues involved in online learning.

Getting a Nikonians chapter going Down Under has proved challenging, but this is one way we can overcome the tyranny of distance with members stretching from the Indian Ocean to the Pacific - so please indicate your interest in participating (for a fee - TBA) in the excellent training Nikonians provides its members.
Timeframe - hopefully in the next four months.

Even though I am a Yank - I bought my D800 specifically for my upcoming trip to Melbourne and Beachworth. Sorry to highjack your post - I wish you the best in getting a group together.

We do have a number of members in Perth who are keen to proceed so I am sure a get-together will be arranged shortly. GOOD NEWS

Thanks to the positive feedback we received from this Forum and some from DPReview, we ARE proceeding with the establishment of a dedicated Australian Chapter of Nikonians.

Secondly, we can announce that a new online training workshop program will be offered by Nikonians Academy in our timezone, which means we no longer need to fly to the US to take advantage of the training in Nikon specific cameras, flash equipment, software programs or skills enhancement in the application of Nikon equipment. Academy Director Mike Hagen has personally committed to provide this to Australian members this year!

So on both counts this is a great result for us.

Full information will be provided here once we have confirmed dates/time/cost etc. This will also will be sent to those who responded to me on this forum, either directly or through local State coordinators in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. We would also like to find more interested members in Canberra, Tasmania and Northern Territory. Inaugural meetings are now being set up by the coordinators in each State.

Meanwhile we are arranging for nikonians.org to do a mass email to all registered Australian Nikonians to ascertain who would like to be part of this exciting development.

Big thanks to everyone here for your encouraging support and thanks to those members who have agreed to be coordinators. Please be assured it is still not too late if you or your friends wish to be a part of this. Feel free to email me and also to pass the information on to any shooters you feel might be interested in joining local chapter activities or the Nikonians Academy training.

Thanks for getting in touch. I will ask our northern coordinator, Robert Cranna, to get in contact. He has an upcoming event planned for Sydney that you may wish to attend. Otherwise we need more people like you in the ACT area to form a local group.
We have online training in the FX range of Nikon bodies, obviously including the D800, coming up in November - you can register online at Nikonians Academy.
Hope you are enjoying the D800, as I am.
