"D800 and DK-17M"

Rancho Murieta, US

Hi,
I just purchased a DK-17M eyepiece and I'm trying to work out how to fit this to my D800.

I can't get a good enough grip on the original eye piece, so that it can be removed. Is there a there some trick to removing the old eyepiece?

Thanks (in advance) for any suggestions.

Bill

You have to close the viewfinder shutter (the lever to the left of the eyepiece) to unlock the eyepiece. Then it will turn very easily.

Thanks for the quick response. I am moving the lever, and I can see a shutter move inside the body, blocking the viewfinder. However, the eyepiece still appears to be locked in place.

That's all it takes on my camera. I wonder if you jammed something when you tried to force it before? Try wiggling the eyepiece back and forth with the shutter open and then close the shutter and try again.

If you can't get the eyepiece off, then a trip to the shop may be needed.
