"Do you use scene modes?"

Knoxville, US

Normally on this site I wouldn't even ask this question but lately I've been playing with scene modes on my V1. Considering the slower lenses and such are scene modes such a bad thing on the 1 series? It certainly makes it easier to hand my girlfriend the V1 and let her take pics without explanation.

What do you think of the scene modes?

I taught my oldest child to use Scene modes. Eventually she will understand the mechanics associated in the Exposure Triad to be able to use one of the PASM modes instead. But it's quite useful for novices and the one-time "waiter/waitress" shot...

Get out of the car.
Get closer to the subject.
Pick the right mid-tone this time.

Yes, the V1 is always in that setting.
But when I shoot planned I choose "P".

I just wish you could tell it what scene mode to use rather than the camera choosing on its own.

Yeah, that did seem like an omission. Perhaps the next revision will offer some additional choices?
