"A couple from my lunchbreak"

Tallahassee, US

Took the 1-V1 out for it's maiden shooting trip today at lunch. Of course I forgot my monopod. So please excuse the soft images, I was hand holding 420mm (1134mm FOV equivalent) of glass (300 2.8 + 1.4x).

Very good! The images are very nice indeed, especially since they were made hand held.
The V1 does a nice job, does it not?

It did a nice job, but I don't think I have EVER worked so hard to get some images! I think my own heartbeat was shaking me off focus! First time I've truly wanted a tripod to shoot with 420mm of glass.

Because that's why I bought it.

These are very similar to my initial results, 70-200 with TC20E-III handheld, 1080mm equiv. Certainly the overall form factor helps — I cannot hand hold by 200-400 — along with the VR and the lack of mirror bounce.

I found framing to be the major issue, especially of a moving target. Tomorrow I'll try the 200-400 with and without various TCs (and on a tripod). The test of the 2160mm equivalent will be of turtles sunning themselves on the rocks…

I shot some turtles sunning as well, but didn't post those because I didn't think anyone would be interested.
