"Nikon V1 + 500/4 Captures Supermoon and Aircraft"
Kanata, ON, CA
I was out tonight capturing the rising Supermoon with my V1, FT-1 and 500/4 VR. The shot I envisioned was the moon silhouetting the spire on a local Orthodox church. As I was taking the shots, I got an unexpected bonus when I noticed an aircraft transiting the face of the moon and was able to grab the shot.
I am ecstatic over my little V1's performance. Sure there's some noise at ISO 400 but it is of a nature that does not detract too much from the image. That 2.7 crop factor is amazing when shooting birds not in flight using the 300/2.8 or the 500/4. If only Nikon would update the firmware to unlock the continuous AF on the FT-1.
