"D7000 Clean sensor problem" Wed 25-May-11 08:39 AM by baseelo
I've been having a problem with cleaning the sensor in my D7000.
I go to the Setup menu then to Clean Sensor. the Clean Sensor tab is not active. When I press on it it tells me that this tab is not active in this setting. I tried different settings, Auto, A, S, P, M etc but I'm having the same problem.

I do not own a 7000, and my problem was with doing a "mirror up" to clean, but is your battery fully charged? My D300s manual says battery must have at least a 60% charge to do a mirror up..I was down 1 bar and it wouldnt even light up on the menu.Put in a freshly charged battery and I could do it. You could also try a full system reset(again assuming your camera has that) and see if you can do the clean sensor then.

Thank you so much.
You were absolutely right. I read your reply today and after I got back from work, I used a fully charged battery and it worked. I also discovered that the " Put Mirror UP" link was inactive too.
After I used the fully charged battery, I was able to do both successfully.
I think that the message that it gives you when you try to do it while the battery is low, should say " Task can't be done with a battery that is not fully charged" or something to that effect. They should never leave it to guessing, because this point is not even mentioned in the manual or in any of the D7000 books that I have.
