I've been using these since 2005. Last year I dropped my D200 about 3 feet smashing the LCD on a rock. It shattered the GGS screen but after removing the broken pieces, there was no damage to the LCD screen and the camera was fine. I had to remove the top LCD screen on my D700 because it had developed a haze underneath. I guess it wasn't sealed well.

I'd love to try one of these, but I'm concerned about sealing as well. The plastic cover already left a few tiny pits on the LCD screen. Afraid that those spots will create air-pockets or bubbles. Any experience applying these to an already imperfect screen?

Don, I noticed a couple of weeks ago my lcd had a couple of small pits in it. Got the GGS II (adhesive version) yesterday and installed this morning. No pockets or bubbles at all. Like alot of others I wish I had gotten one sooner.

I received mine from ebay last week and was dismayed to see they were unbranded generics. Looked good anyway so I have put them on and so far, fantastic. Hope they last like everybody's GGSs!!

The GGS screen looks identical to the Nikon screen on D7000. I think they manufacture it for Nikon, or use the same tools. It just fits on top of the camera LCD screen.

Same for the top small LCD.

I enjoy using it very much.

Don't worry about the air pockets, there is no adhesive underneath the GGS glass, it has adhesive around the edges of the screen to stick onto the camera LCD.

I am waiting to get mine in the mail, ordered it a couple days ago. I have grown to really dislike the standard plastic cover - scratches up easily and too much dust migrates underneath.

Did you get the one with the adhesive or the one that uses the mounting rails?

Yep, I bought it too. Put 'em on and forgot about them. LOL

They come from China and take a couple, three weeks to arrive.

Of course, that is better than the 88mm holesaw I bought from China. After two months, I complained and they sent a second. Another two months and it arrived. Three weeks later the second holesaw arrived. LOL I had already drilled the four holes I needed to have. so now I have two.

I have got one as well. Excited to put it on soon... wonder what it will look like....

The English instructions on the package is very 'Chinese' ...

'The raw material of optical glass' rather than 'Optical glass material' because Chinese like to put 'the' in front of many words.

Got mine a couple of days ago in the Post and I agree, wish I had done it sooner. Much better clarity than the factory plastic protector.

I bought mine from Amazon. I saw them for a few dollars less on flea bay but decided I didn't want to risk getting burned or getting a no-name copy. Peter

I just bought mine through Amazon, based on all the raves in this thread. They were sold by BestDeal USA, and fulfilled through Amazon.

I got mine though UK Amazon. Love them. The rear LCD one is so much better than the supplied plastic - mine was so scratched(even though I carry the camera in a bag) that it was getting hard to see the display properly. The top one is a nice extra.

Only had them for a while - mine are the 'stick-on' type and so far seem to be pretty solid. Still keeping the factory one in my bag though, just in case...

This was one of the first things I bought as soon as I took delivery of my D7000. GGS had not yet released the D7000 protectors yet when I bought mine. I bought the 3 piece set for the D90, and all three pieces fit perfectly. I got the LCD screen, top screen, and eyepiece cover.

I am curious why no one has mentioned the Giottos AEGIS (12 layer) screen protectors. The clarity of them are so much better than any other product.

The only down side is that they will crack it you hit them hard enough. I have had to replace a few due to my carelessness.

With such a great monitor on the D7000 I dont understand why people are using any other product

These sound great, but neither B&H nor Giottos' site itself list a model specifically for the D7000.

So which one of the others fits the D7000? The one for the D90?

Thanks.

Received, and installed. They're fine, I reckon. I was shooting nekkid prior to this, there's a few nicks on one body's screen, nothing major, but I guess it's better to shoot with protection, eh?

Finally installed the GGS protector on my D7000. Very slick! I was expecting something uglier and bulkier. Installed very nicely and looks great. I wasn't going to bother with the protector for the top-mounted LCD screen but installed that too. The material seems hard and resilient so one can only assume the screen is more protected, perhaps much more so. The adhesive ring goes all around the periphery so I presume dirt and dust will not get in between the protector and the screen. Highly recommended.

Two installation tips:

- As they say in the instructions, turn on the display when mounting the protector. This helps with alignment.

- Unlike the instructions, I removed the front shipping film from the protector while mounting it. This made it easier to align it as I could better see the edge.

Same here, very pleased. Much better than the standard Nikon protector (which might just be meant for protection during shipping).

Would never use the standard protector. It does more harm than good. If particle gets between the plastic and screen, it will put a nick on the screen. Just did that to my new D7000

Got mine a few weeks ago after reading the reviews here, and really like them.

Easy to install, and the very thin profile makes them disappear once on the camera.

Can't beat the price, either. I bought mine from Amazon. Very pleased.
