Does anyone know if and how I can use the D7000 as a remote commander with an SB-600? Thanks.

Yes, the D7000's built-in flash can be used in Commander Mode to control up to two groups of remote CLS-compatible Speedlights, including the SB-600.

I would suggest our Speedlights & Lighting Forum for more detailed information on using such a combination

In the Speedlights and Lighting forum look in the 'World of Nikon Speedlights' and search for the 'Fast Track Guide to Wireless Speedlights'. The D7000 is not specifically covered, but there should be enough examples with other models for you to see how it works in general. Make sure you communications channel is the same across all units.

For the D7000 you will find the flash control in the custom menu e3: Flash Cntrl for Built-in Flash. See pages 223 - 228 for more information.
