"D7000 delivered-yippee!"

Maine, US

I am reading my manual after just receiving my D7000. I like the feel and lightness. I almost bought a D80 back when I decided to get my D300. I have always liked the lighter weight of the D80 so the D7k feels great. Can't believe it took 2-1/2 months from ordering to receive the camera body.
From what I've read here since the D7000 thread started, I've been mostly drooling over the initial reports on this puppy!

Really looking forward to the weather to improve here (NE) so I can go out for a walk with it and shoot some outdoor pics. Really thrilled! I report back on how I like its photos after that. Maybe post a few to my gallery, too.

Thanks! Thrilled with it! So far, I'm immersed and slogging along. So much that's different from my D300s.

Now I learn there's a firmware update to chase down to lessen the risk of hot pixels in LiveView and Video (due I presume of sensor temps rising during periods of being on steadily).

Congrats Phil, it is a great cam; looking forward to those samples coming.

I hope for some quiet time over Christmas to go back over some of the functions I am still a bit murky on (U1/2; video; AF-ON ONLY; etc.) and maybe try and push the camera in some areas I haven't had a chance yet like night photography, super high ISO or HDR. I also want to try my remote and afix the third-party screen protector I bought. Lots to explore!

Best regards, SteveK

I've been playing around with it a bit and wading through the manual. Larger page size makes it easier to read/navigate though.

I've been also studying Thom Hogan's review and found it shed considerable light on how the U1/2 work and the new focus control lever/button. I have a D300s and am finding it much different and I am still slow in getting to settings I like.

Good fun enjoying the learning process with yours. I'm still having fun with it. No good pics yet - weather's been rainy and yucky and so I'm staying indoors mostly for a while.
