The Metz 60CT-1 has a trigger voltage of 20 volts so it will be safe to use with the D7000. Older DSLRs might be a problem, some can switch only 5 volts of less. Nikon's are pretty good in that regard and can switch much higher voltages.
It is a good, powerful flash.
