"D7100 Eyepiece Adapter"

Colorado Springs, US

I have an old DR-3 right angle finder with a separate thread adapter ring that I used to mount the DR-3 to a D2x. Will the threads on the DK-22 eyepiece adapter for the D7100 accept the threads on the DR-3 or it's adapter ring?

Yes, I use a DR-3 with a DK-22 adapter on my D7000.

Thanks for the info. I have a D7100 on it's way, and being able to use the DR-3 is much better than having to lay in the mud.

Hi!

Berger Bros. sent to me the link to a very informative Nikon article that fully describes all the right angle finders, eyepieces and adapters, and to which camera each can be attached. Below is the link:

http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/11048/~/which-right-angle-finder-can-i-use-on-my-camera%3F

P.S. Great screen name. ;-)

This is just a follow up to my last post: I interpret the Nikon article as implying that the weak link is the DK-22 i.e: it can't support the weight of the DR-3. However, a thought came to me (not a frequent occurrence) that you could buy an awful lot of DK-22s for $200.00, the cost of the DR-6. The DR-3 is made of metal, the DR-6 is made of plastic; the DR-3 has a diopter lock nut; the DR-6 does not.

On the other hand...........

I've had no problems with the DK-22's strength supporting the DR-3. I'm sure it would break if the DR-3 was used as a lever but it hasn't broken in normal use and feels strong enough.
