Some important things to check. Camera 1. Commander Mode - "--" if you don't want the built-in flash to contribute to the flash or "TTL" if you do want the built-in camera to add flash to the photo as well. 2. Select Group and Channel on the camera built-in flash such as "A 2" 3. Built-in flash is popped up and does flash when you push the shutter release
SB700 1. Move the switch to "Remote" (and have "REMOTE" displayed on the screen) 2. Match Group and Channel settings to camera such as "A 2" 3. Make sure the infrared sensor window is pointed so that it can see the flashed from the camera.
That should eliminate most of the common mistakes

Make sure all units are on the same communication channel and the groups are properly selected.
