"Can you monitor sound w/ earphones while Recording Video on the D7000?"
Vancouver, CA
Hi there,
I'd like to ask if there is anyway to monitor sound while shooting video on the D7000? I tried plugging earphones into the A/V jack and it comes out as very noisy and distorted.
I looked at the manual and in Darren's book on the D7000 and neither addresses it.
Are we just supposed to guess at the sound levels when recording sound with an external lavalier mic plugged in?
Playing back isn't that great either as we can't tell if the sound is good/clipping off that back speaker.
I'm hoping someone here knows something I don't.
PS: as a side question, is there a way to monitor sound while recording on the D800? Just thought I'd ask at the same time.

Hello Ronald, Unfortunately the D7000 has no live recording audio monitoring. The D800 does however, and also has on-screen level meters for the audio tracks. A common way of monitoring sound and having more flexibility with EQ, effects, balance, and levels is to use a small battery operated mixer. Stan St Petersburg Russia
