Thank you D7000'ians. I am flattered by the invitation and the welcome received. I have a d7000 and love it so have an interest in having other people love it as much as I do. From even before it was released some people rightfully accused me of being a Fanboy. Maybe, I do not see that as a bad thing, it is easy to be a fan of the D7000.

After getting the D800, my D7000 has become a little lonely, but seeing the results of the D800, as good as it is, I realize that the D7000 is 95% of its FX big brother. That is a very impressive record to get almost indistinguishable results compared to the highest performance DSLR on the planet.

I am visiting back home in California now so my internet access will not be continuous so if someone directs a comment towards me, if I do not respond right away, it is not because I am ignoring your message.

I guess this forum will a sea of calm compared to the chaos in every D800 forum on the web. Some newcomers to the D7000 should be happy that they were spared the same sort of AF problems that followed the D7000 for the first 6 months or so. I suspect that will be a common trend with new model releases that change fundamental parameters and features which both the D7000 and D800 brought.

Despite a great design, which anyone who has used a D7000 for a while will attest to, any of these camera can have random problems or drift in mechanical adjustment. My own D7000, in the middle of a club shoot, about 500 shots into the evening, all my wide angle lenses failed to focus well. The lenses over 50mm worked normally. A visit to the Nikon authorized warranty station, Precision Services in Sacramento, returned it to perfect operation with some adjustments.

Actually, some of his friends have already emailed me from time to time, telling me what a great person I was. They wanted me to pay their way to the U.S. and marry them. I was a bit puzzled how they knew me or even knew about me. But their looks blinded me to those finer details. It is curious though that when they emailed me they used different names. I wonder why they gave Stan fake names.

I asked a female friend to help me decide which one to marry. She was outraged. She said that I should be careful about Russian girls because a lot of them have bad teeth. Guess I'll get Stan to get them a dental checkup before I decide which one to send the money for the flight.

Could it be that my friend was just jealous since she had just spent a fortune on her dental work?

Pondering my choices,
Charlie

I feel honored to have been the subject of your first post;>) Thank you. If you have any questions, or comments regarding the D7000, its care and feeding, we all hope you continue to post.
We have become technology spoiled when so many people are rushing for the newest when the current tried and true models are better than what even pro budgets could afford 5 years ago, yet we all enjoyed the images created at any time in the past. The D7000 is a very capable camera.
I shot a wedding 2 weeks ago where I used a D800 and a D7000. Both excellent cameras but the one image the bride picked for a large framed print was a candid using the D7000 with a 70-200 mounted.
By current thinking the higher res and pro specs of the D800 should have been evident in the resulting images but that current thinking gets away from why images are liked or not liked or have no impact on us at all. The D7000 is perfectly capable of producing images all day long that are in each of those categories: compelling, insignificant, powerful, boring, etc.
So you have a great camera and we are here to help in some small way to assist you in developing your craft.
