"U1 and U2 Settings not saving what they should?"

US

Had the camera about a month. Excited about the U1/U2 capability, but I am confused on what it really saves. I set up U1 to be a Outdoors / Landscape and U2 to be a portrait type setup. I setup custom Picture Profiles for both of those.

When I take pictures under both of them and go into ViewNX 2 and edit the Raw files, the picture control appears to match but when I look at the sharpness, instead of being on 5 which is what I had the custom picture profile adjusted to in my U1 its on 0 when I edit in View NX 2? Is that what I should expect to see?

Thanks!

The sharpness level that I have set shows in NX2. Perhaps you mistakenly set it or didn't save it?

I am worried it is saving the sharpness of the current picture profile, not the custom picture profile sharpness settings when I saved the U2 setting. Will do some more tests when I get back home

Hi Steve, U1 & U2 allows us to save various setting, however there are some settings which cant be saved.

Items that cant be saved;

-Release modes
-Storage folder
-File naming
-Manage picture control
-multiple exposure
-Interval timer shooting

You can find this info on page 229 in Mastering the Nikon D7000 book or on page 75 in your user's manual.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the pointer to the manual. It is misleading since it is saving the picture control title (e.g. mine is called StandardSHRP) inside the Raw file, but not the actual parms of that picture control

Stinks!

Took some shots tonight and its pretty clear that they were different sharpness and saturation settings, so it appears that View NX 2 is just not picking up the correct sharpness settings when you go into the edit piece on a raw image.
