"D7000 with Nikon 300/4 AF-S"

Finally got to try out my 2nd-hand Nikon 300/4 AF-S for the first time. It's a creme colored version, and it focusses/handles beautifully on the D7000 with battery grip.

That's a great shot. I have a new 300/4 AF-S on order, and I can't wait to try it out.

Yeah, it's very sharp, even wide open. You're going to love it.

Great lens, great shot. With sports and wildlife, I tend to use mine more with the Nikon 1.4X teleconverter or, sometimes, the 1.7X teleconverter rather than "naked." In the 280-300mm focal length, i end up using the 70-200mm f/2.8 VR I with the 1.4X TC, because it zooms. I got a Kirk tripod mount for my 300mm f/4, as the Nikon version flexes a little.

This is a very affordable lens, and an excellent choice for those who don't need a 300mm f/2.8 (me) or don't want that lens's bulk (me), or can't justify the extra cost (me.)

Thanks! I have the top end Kenko 1.4x. I may have to try it with the 300/4.
