Just posted three shots here:
http://images.nikonians.org/galleries/showgallery.php?cat=17209

Each needed a fair amount of sharpening, though they were shot with my 70-300 VRII... not my sharpest lens (I had VR turned off because all were taken on a tripod) Three different focal lengths, for what it's worth.
Not planning to sell my D700, as these seem decent, but definitely giving up on video.

It's going to be interesting getting to know this camera. I already feel like I am going to have to up my game in the sharpening department because of the cameras high resolution. I find I am introducing noise when I sharpen if I am not careful!

And those DXO measured values for dynamic range of 13.9 stops at ISO 100 are astounding for this sensor.

Best regards, SteveK

Indeed. I have to give it a whirl with a better lens, either my 24-70 or my 14-24. I bought the D7000 primarily as a backup to my D700 and wanted to keep the 70-300 on it for the reach. But I think I either need to look for a better lens or plan to do a lot of work in front of the computer. Seems odd, though.Best.
