"Stain Glass Windows"

Whitestone, US

I was asked to take pictures of our church stain glass windows. The windows face the north and south. The sun in New York is mostly in the south at this time of year. Those windows had blown highlights. I guess I should wait for a cloudy day. Would late afternoon be better? Any tips would be appreciated.

some thoughts,
Try bracketting and HDR.
minus exposure comp and bring out shadows.
shoot RAW and see how much blown highlights can be recaptured.
shoot early or late day when sun is near horizon or going down. If you dont have a lot of light use a tripod.
Post a picture.

If you don't use HDR, just make sure that direct sunlight doesn't hit only part of the window. If it hits all of the window, then no worries.

Use your Highlights display in playback to check for what you're getting, but don't get too frazzled if tiny sections of white glass "blink".

FILL the frame as much as possible, so your meter has a good chance of capturing the results you'll want.
