"View D7000 video live on computer monitor?"

US

I am looking for some software so that I can view video I'm shooting on my D7000 live on a computer (or tv) monitor as I am recording. Does this exist? I don't see anything that seems to be what I'm looking for on the Nikon website. It also has to work under Lion (Mac OS 10.7).

Thanks!!

If you have an I-phone or I-pad check out this link to DSLR Camera Remote. I have used this with my Iphone and the D7x for about a year and it works well.
The price is right also.

I am afraid that what you are looking for is something akin to the Holy Grail. Beautiful to contemplate, but if such a thing exists I don't know where to get one. The computer port on the D700 is only for transferring files and control, as far as I can tell it can't transmit live video.

What people use to monitor the video for critical focusing and etc is either a Marshal or a Sony monitor, like this http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/656894-REG/Marshall_V_LCD110_ATSC_V_LCD110_ATSC_11_ATSC_Field.html/BI/4775/KBID/5289/ or this http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/762763-REG/Sony_CLM_V55BDL_CLM_V55BDL_Portable_LCD_Monitor.html./BI/4775/KBID/5289/ These are the cheap ones, they range up to several grand. They hook up via the HDMI port on the D7000.

What I would REALLY like to see someone come up with is a video-in port for the iPad, or pretty much any tablet computing device. That would be fantastic, as in a pinch it could be used as a prompter, and of course it will still have all those other capabilities as well. -BC-

Tether your D7k to any computer, and watch the LiveView on-screen.

Best $10 (US) I've ever spent.

Four Eighty Sparky-- THANK YOU! I have been looking for something like this since I started shooting video with my D7000 back in June! From what I could tell in the manual, it couldn't be done, but after seeing that tutorial from Control My Nikon I see that I am wrong-- and I am happy to be wrong too.

However, as the next respondent pointed out, it is Windows only, and I am Mac based. But it's not like there aren't a bunch of inexpensive Windows machines out there.

Thanks again.

Check out "Sofortbild" in the MAC apps store, it's the closest thing I have seen to what you want. Also see their web site.

I believe it's Free.

Pocobear-- I looked at the Sofortbild earlier today, but I can't find anything definitive in the description that says it does live video. Then again, my eyes were starting to water after three straight hours of searching. -BC

nikonians has a glitch - after my first post it returned me to the edit window instead of the thread. So i pressed "post" again and got double post.

Thanks for the tip. I downloaded, watched the videos, tried it for myself... and ten minutes later my browser was pointing towards Paypal.

Fantastic program. Major upgrade to doing macro, bracketing, self-portraits, lots of uses.

Once again, Nikonians deliver, in flying colors!
