"Keywords on group of pictures"

Allen, US

Ok. I selected a few pictures in Aperture and entered Keywords on the Metadata but it didn't put it on all of them. Surely this can be done. How do you put Keywords on several pictures at a time?

Make sure that you don't have "Primary only" selected (under the edit menu, or from an icon in the lower right corner). If you do then it will only be added to the the one image, even though other images are selected. As they say there are many ways of doing the same thing. Select the images that you want to add a key word to. Then open the keyword HUD inspector (shift H). Search and find a key word (or first add one) then drag and drop it on one of the selected images. It should show up on all the images. If you have an metadata preset then you can do it through batch change (shift Command B). Those are two that come to mind, there are probably others.

Sorry Mike, where do you select this or ensure this?

I found it in the edit drop down. "Primary only" is not checked. I lassoed all the pictures and put keywords. Still only putting on one image.

How are you trying to add the key word? Are you typing it in on one of the images?? I don't think that will work on a group, you will need to add it using the keyword hud, or batch change.

Another item of note is to try to keyword when importing the batch into Aperture. (I import off the card, so its pretty easy)

Its a slick process that works great when the images have a certain set of keywords you want to use, along with ownership, location, etc.

The "Batch" change allows addendum keywords to subsets, although the keyword hud is arguably a faster way for that, imho.
