Can anyone enlighten me about 32bit and 64bit performance in Aperture?

I am in the process of making the transition from an NX2 workflow environment to Aperture. In the process I have downloaded a couple of plug-ins to assess - notably Dfine 2.0, PT Lens, Topaz etc.

When I launch them, Aperture prompts me to re-launch Aperture in 32 bit mode - which I do with no problem.

Are there any consequences to this - will performance, processing speed etc. be adversely affected? I am not sure I understand the 32 bit 64 bit thing!

Thanks,

Chris
