"Re IPhoto update for Nikon D 7100"

Philadelphia, US

I like to use IPhoto for processing my photos. But at this point I cannot download RAW images from my D 7100 to Iphoto. So I am shooting RAW and Jpeg and then downloading the Jpegs to IPhoto and then the RAWs to Nikon view.

Has there been an update for IPhoto for the RAW images from the D7100?

Yes - Apple released the update very shortly after the D7100 was released.

If you update iPhoto you will have no problems with NEF files.

Thanks for the info on an update for IPhoto.
However, I regularly check for updates and so far I haven't seen one for the D 7100
Perhaps my operating system or version of IPhoto doesn't support it.
I am using OS 10.6.8
With IPhoto 11 V 9.2.3 629.52

Thanks Again

It's not really an update to iPhoto, per se. RAW handling is done via a core library that is used by all Apple software that reads RAW files. iPhoto is one such application, but so is Preview and so is Aperture.

If you haven't gotten that update, I suspect you haven't gotten any system updates for a while, including security updates. I would run Software Update (from the Apple menu) sooner rather than later, and that should get you up to date.

If you do want to import RAW directly into iPhoto, the D7100 was first supported by Apple's Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.06. Digital Camera Raw supports the specific camera RAW files for the D7100 for both Aperture and iPhoto.

Go to the Apple web site => Support => Downloads => Digital Camera Raw (version 4.09) and download it. That should solve your compatibility issue.
