"Borders"

Berwick Vic, AU

Have just purchased Lightroom 4, some minor experience with DXo so rather new to all this PP, I do like the effect of the borders I see on some of the postings.

Advice please, as to the most straight forward way to be able to add borders.

Thanks
Keith

Keith,

Lightroom 4 doesn't have a borders capability. You will need to install a plug-in that can do that. On option is OnOne's PhotoFrame 4.6 which you can find using the link below.

Thanks Ernesto, have checked out the web site, and it raises more questions than it answers.

To date (only started on this path in August 2011) have been using DX0 and for most things it is enough, have just purchased LR4, as in say 10% of cases DX0 is not enough, apart from the Photoframe, which I do want, do you or any other members care to comment on the balance of products that make up their Photo Suite.
The Photoframe is $99, whereas the whole suite is $299, if I just purchased Photoframe and then started to cherry pick the other components, it would be a very expensive exercise.

Thanks
Keith

If you're content with simple borders (vs. photo frames) the Mogrify plugin is an excellent companion to Lightroom. It can be found here, http://www.photographers-toolbox.com/index.php and is distributed as donationware. Beyond borders, it handles text annotation, watermarks, etc.

If (and this is a big if) you have a potential requirement for Nik's Color Efex 4.0, it also includes a border filter in its set of filters. Nothing elaborate but nice borders nonetheless Peter

Thanks Paul - Have checked out the Mogrify plugin, and at the stage I am at, it seems to be the better option.

Cheers

I use the Mogrify plug-in as well and really like it for the simple borders that I use.
