I just received my Lightroom 3 from Bh Photo. Does a booket come with it to help you get started? My NX2 came with a book to get you started. Also, would you do the updates first, before using it?

There isn't a book with Lightroom but there's tons of resources. I'd start with the video intro from NAPP:

For a book, I recommend The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 Book: The Complete Guide for Photographers by Martin Evening, another ex-Lightroom team member. This is also available as an ebook should you own an iPad, etc.

You can apply the updates whenever you are ready, but I would recommend to do it right away. As others have pointed out there is no physical book included but a lot of 3rd party resources out there. I also wanted to mention that Lightroom (as do all Adobe products) has an on-line reference manual. It's not the greatest, but it's at no additional cost. Just go to the Help menu and you'll find it there.
