"D5000 doesn't recognize lens"

I have a Rokinon 500mm mirror telephoto lens with T-mount that worked on my D40. Last night I tried to use it on my D5000 but the camera told me "no lens attached". Suggestions??? Help!

I suspect you didn't have the camera in Manual mode when you turned it on. See the first sentence on page 195 of the manual (assuming English version).
