"Which bodies do hi speed flash sync like the D50?"

I know the D50 will sync at any shutter speed without part of the image blacking out. The trick is to connect a non dedicated cord or device between the flash and body so it doesn't know a flash is present. Does the D3200 or any others do this? I know it doesn't work on my D300. If you go past 1/320, the image is partially blacked out.

The D50 has an electronic shutter and a published X-Sync of 1/500th sec.. So does the D1, D1X, D1H, D70, D70s, and D40. All of the current bodies have mechanical shutters and limited to a maximum sync speed of 1/200th - 1/250th sec. depending on body.

Bill, if you get a high power CLS flash like the SB800, you'll be able to use Auto FP High Speed Sync up to the highest shutter speed of the camera. However as the shutter speed increases the light output of the flash will decrease.
I always leave my camera in this sync mode and have gone as high as 1/1000 sec at ISO 400 and f4 with perfect exposures up to 20 feet. The flash display will tell you what range you can use as it changes depending on what you set the lens aperture, shutter speed and ISO settings. This works perfectly on my D300.
However the D3200 and D5300 don't support this Auto FP HS sync mode. You would need to go to the D7000/7100 and more advanced bodies.
