"Compact Flash Cameras"

I must be behind times. Looking over B&H Photo's website today under Nikon cameras I didn't see any that took the Compact Flash card. Is this the trend or did I miss something? They still have Flash cards but I saw no new or relatively new cameras using those cards.

The high end cameras are still using them - the D4, D800 use them, and they're fully current. For smaller or slower systems, SD cards are less expensive and possibly more mechanically reliable. CF is about played out, so don't expect to see too many more of them. XQD, I guess, or something else, will be the future at the high end, and various forms of SD for everything else.

I have two D200's so, I hope they don't play out too soon. Sounds like I may want to make some purchases in the very near future if that's the case. However, I don't know why that would be if the higher end cameras use them.

Hi David,

CF cards should be available well after cameras that use them are discontinued. Given that both Nikon and Canon are continuing to make cameras that use CF cards, there should be no rush, unless you need them now.
The fastest CF cards out perform the fastest SD cards.
XQD cards out perform CF cards.
So far, the D4 is the only camera that uses XQD cards.
It has 1 CF slot and 1 XQD slot.
We will see what the next generation of bodies will use in the next year or so.

Best Regards,
Marty

Just answering you tag line about the Dog.

I've had both. And this one I have (a house cat) will let you brush it with a hair brush. Can roll over like a dog. Will even let you know at 9:00 O'clock Sharp at night she's supposed to go to bed. Take it to backroom where its bed is.It will get in bed then you can close the door.

Here is a Sample:
