Fellow Nikonians from this part of the site, I'm leaving. See you around! Kidding.
It's because I've just stepped up one level. Sold my D5100 and grabbed a D7000 with the MB-D11 grip. Just came back from NYC with it along with a Vanguard carbon fiber tripod, a new ThinkTank bag, extension tube set from Kenko, a Lastolite Easybox Hotshoe etc... You can see I had some fun and spent some time at B&H.
But many of you have many cameras and participate in all of the forums. We'll keep talking.
I wanted to go with a D800 but as is still difficult to grab one these days and if I'd go with the FX route I also had to buy some new FX lenses for it, I decided for now to keep my already bought DX lenses (and my 70-200 2.8) and go with the fantastic (almost a classic already) D7000. It is much closer to the pro line Nikon bodies than the 5100. The way the shutter reacts, the focus points, the AF system, the feel (with the grip) etc... Really liking it. And in a couple of years I can migrate to a pro body much more comfortably. Well. we'll have to see what Nikon will bring us 2 or 3 years from now.
