"D5000 Hotshoe question"

I just upgraded from my D50 to a used D5000. I'll get right to the question. Is it possible to replace the hot shoe on the D5000? Mine seems to have the slightest of dings and my flash won't slip into the shoe. Thanks in advance for any help.

Should be replaceable. A camera Repair place might be able to straighten it out or order replacement part from Nikon. Or you might be able to send back to Nikon and have them to replace.

Thanks for your help. All the camera shops are closed on the weekends out here. So I sat down with a little needle file and ground it down by hand. It works perfect now.

Good old fashioned American ingenuity!

I would still think about getting it replaced. Could cause problems down the road.

Hi Joseph,

Yes, the hotshoe can be replaced.
You will have to send the camera to Nikon Service or a Nikon Authorized Service Station for the repair.
Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!

Best Regards,
Marty
