On his Metadata screen, it shows shutter count, however, the numbers that show make no sense as far as shutter count. In consecutive photos his numbers were as follows.

Photo # 1 - 124913522
Photo # 2 - 158009707

I never remember seeing or paying attention to this on any of my cameras, so I was unable to give him an answer. I also reviewed the users manual online and could not find information on it.

You are correct in that those numbers make no sense. It would be interesting to see what the EXIF data said.
