"D3100 shutter issue?"

Commerce, US

So last night at my kids school award function I missed photo's because of shutter delay.

I've had the manufacturer refurb for a few months w/o any problems....until now.

It achieves focus lock quickly but then there is a long (~3 second) delay before the shutter trips.
This caused me to miss the moment that the award was handed to my kids.

I checked all the settings quickly thinking that the shutter delay function was on but it seems as though the 3100 unlike my D90 does not have that feature?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Steve

Were you using flash? Was it set to "red-eye reduction"?

Hi Steve,

Were you using the pop up Speedlight or your SB-900?

I was using an SB600.
I'll check that setting when I get home.

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,

Make sure the camera wasn't inadvertantly set in Self-timer mode.
The delay timer can be set to as short as 2 sec. in the SetUp Menu.
Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!

Best Regards,
Marty

That is why I like the threaded view better than the linear view.
