Why does the D5100 allow an HDMI monitor to be hooked up but can only record if shooting 1080/24? when I switch the camera to 1080/30 the picture is there, but recording is not allowed unless I unplug the HDMI cable and use the built in monitor... It does work in 1080/24 mode though... Any ideas?? thanks

I have a 5100 and tried to look up an answer in the op manual and I only see reference to playback and the menu choices on page 147.

My suggestion is to interface with Nikon support directly as your particular issue is a very narrow and obscure use of the camera. (shooting HD video while watching an HDMI connected monitor)
