"Kiron 105mm f2.8 1:1 macro "

I have a new D5100 and have an opportunity to purchase this lens.

I know it will not auto focus and that isn't a big issue, but I would want the camera to control aperture or at least recognize the aperture in aperture priority mode and then regulate the shutter speed for a correct exposure.

Does anyone know if this lens is able to interface with the D5100 in that regard or would it be a totally manual situation?

Hi Dick,

None of the Kiron lenses that I have seen had a CPU or even electrical contacts.
That means 100% manual operation with no metering when mounted on your D5100.
Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!

Best Regards,
Marty
