Hi all. Picked up the D5000 kit at Costco. Read up and thought I had it figured out. Went to my kids X country meet on a light rain / drizzle day and all my shots were blurry. I used the 55 - 200 lens with the camera set on the sports mode. I switched to manual focus and started getting shots. I had to focus on a spot and wait for the kids to hit that spot. So sports shooters Where did I go wrong. I'm new. Used to small point and shoot cameras. I want to figure this out and get going! What is the ideal set up for shooting outdoor sports? How do you set up your D5000 and get the shot?

Thanks.
