Hi I just got the D3000 yesterday for my b-day so I threw my old SDHC 4GB card in it from my old camera and the settings are telling me I can only take 60 pics, then when I take 1 pic it’s telling me I can only take 30 more instead of 59 more. do you know what I’m doing wrong?

Hi Alison,

Welcome to Nikonians!
Happy Birthday too.

First make sure you download all of the images and data that is on your 4GB SDHC onto your computer.

Then insert the memory card into your new D3000.

Then format the card in the camera.
See pages 20-22 in the Nikon D3000 Users Manual .

A 4GB card should have enough capacity to hold over 200 (227) images with the Image Quality set to Raw + JPEG Basic Large.
Also remember that the frames remaining counter is always very Conservative. In other words it will under estimate the actual capacity. It will get more accurate the closer the card gets to being full.
Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!

Best Regards,
Marty
