"nikon d3000 or canon xsi"

a lot of my friends are asking which camera to buy..i always suggest nikon since i ownd nikon D90 from D5k and have Nikon D70s(IR),

i've been reading a lot of reviews between the 2(nikon d3k vs xsi) and i can't give them a concrete answer since im just a 1yr old photohobbyist I am asking you, my fellow nikonians for advice.

I don't want to be a bias. I always tell them nikon's crop factor is better other than that don't know what to say..I end up telling up..read the reviews and compare..lols....

I don´t know which one is better, but if you take both cameras in your hand, you know which one feels better.

well i decided to promote canon xsi for their budget..otherwise if they are willing to stretch a bit, d5k would be alot better even against t2i and t1i.

To be brutally honest, it just doesn't matter. All of these are good enough that they aren't the limiting factor in a budding photographer's development, and neither of them are, in practice, what an amateur "power-user" would want. So it boils down to personal preference - as some said, how they feel - or other external factors, such as the help one can get from canonians.org. (Or not. Hint: canonians.org does not exist.)

The crop factor is NOT a useful discriminator between Nikon and Canon. For every circumstance under which the slightly wider 1.5x proves to be "better," there is another one where Canon's 1.6x is slightly preferable. On a system basis, Canon and Nikon both offer 1.0x (eg "full frame") and Canon also offer a limited selection of 1.3x bodies.

Hi Leo,

They are both very simalr in features and capability.
The Cannon has a few (2) more megapixeles.
The Nikon has a few (2) more AF points and one full stop higher ISO capability.
The D3000 feels better and more solid in my hands than the Canon.
Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!

Best Regards,
Marty
