"Changing Grid Layout on D5000"

US

I want to know if it is possible to change the grid layout on the D5000. The default comes up with 16 squares in a 4X4 layout. I want a 9 square layout in 3X3 to use the live view to set up rule of thirds in my photos. The manual is no help and so far I have not been able to find a way to do it. Does anyone know how/if it can be done? Thanks.

You/we are stuck with the 4x4 grid.

There might be some third party (Katz Eye Optics?) options as extras when changing the focus screen.

Hi Murray,

Welcome to Nikonians!
The only way to do it would be to get a custom made focusing screen! That said it would probably cost as much as your D5000 to have one made.
Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!

Best Regards,
Marty

Welcome to Nikonians,

Have a look at KatzEye Focusing Screen for the Nikon D3000 & D5000 and the grid options that are available.
