I was all excited to use my new D5000 then I put my Tameron lense on, which I purchased two years ago for $599. The auto-focus doesn't seem to work.
Why did the AF work fine on my D70, but not on my D5000?
It looks like the 5000 and the 3000 only work with certain lenses.

The D70 has a focus motor inside the camera while the D5000 does not. If the lens does not have a focus motor in it (AF-S in Nikon terms, not sure what Tamron calls it) then it will be manual focus on the D5000/D3000/D40/D60 bodies.

You need lenses with an internal motor.
