"Trouble in D3000 Guide Mode"

US

A few days ago when I was using the Guide Mode on my D3000, I selected "Distant Subjects" and the camera started going into "Sports" mode every time instead. Now I can't get the same quality shots I was before when it was properly entering Distant Subjects mode.

I'm new to SLRs and have no idea how to replicate the settings for distant subjects manually. Any ideas what's happening, or how I can get the thing to start going into Distant Subjects mode again?

Thanks.

Hi Bart,

Welcome to Nikonians!
Guide mode is reset to Easy operation> Auto when the mode dial is rotated to another setting or the camera is turned off. If no other option is selected when the shutter release button is pressed, the camera will take the picture in Auto mode. See pages 35-40 in the D3000 Users manual.
If that doesn't work you could try Resetting the shooting options.
See page 119 of the D3000 Users Manual.
Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!

Best Regards,
Marty
